Athos Bousvaros MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the combined program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition of Children's Hospital in Boston. In addition, he is an Assistant in Medicine, an Attending in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Co-Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, and Director of the Inpatient GI Service at Children's Hospital. Dr. Bousvaros earned his BA at Williams College and his MD at the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in the Department of Pediatrics at Duke. He then served as a clinical and research fellow in the combined program in Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Bousvaros is Chairman of the Pediatric Affairs Committee of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. He is also a member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Committee of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. Dr. Bousvaros focuses his research on improving diagnosis and treatment of IBS in children. He is the author or co-author of numerous original articles, reviews, chapters, editorials, clinical communications, educational materials, non-print materials and abstracts. His articles have been published in Gastroenterology, The Journal of Pediatrics, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Digestive Diseases, and The Journal of Pediatric GI and Nutrition. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the American Academy of Pediatrics Pediatric Review and Education Program.
