The diagnosis and management of hepatitis C K. Rajender Reddy is a Professor of Medicine and Surgery in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is the Director of Hepatology and the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr Reddy received his medical education from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He completed a residency in internal medicine at New York Medical College, a fellowship in Gastroenterology at East Tennessee State University College of Medicine, and a fellowship in Hepatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Subsequently he joined the faculty at the University of Miami in the Division of Hepatology, where he attained the rank of Professor of Medicine. A fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, Dr Reddy is also a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He has held several visiting professorships at medical schools throughout the world. Dr Reddy has published extensively on topics such as liver transplantation in chronic hepatitis C, HIV and the liver, hepatitis immunization, drug hepatotoxicity, prevalence of hepatitis C virus infection in dialysis patients, and long-term follow-up of hepatitis patients. In addition, he has contributed to several textbooks and has participated in scientific presentations at national and international meetings. He has served on the editorial boards of Liver Transplantation and is an ad hoc reviewer for several journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine.
