Henry Cohen is Associate Professor of Gastroenterology of the Medical School, National University of Montevideo, Uruguay. He is Secretary General of the World Gastroenterology Organization (OMGE - Organisation Mondiale de Gastroentérologie). His major research interests are hydatid disease, h. pylori and GERD. He has published original papers, reviews, and book chapters in his country and abroad and has received numerous awards from universities and societies. Professor Cohen graduated in medicine from the National University of Uruguay, Montevideo in 1981. Following his postgraduate course in Gastroenterology in Montevideo, he was awarded with two scholarships in Japan in 1983 and 1987. He has been President of the Uruguayan Society of Gastroenterology and Secretary General of the Interamerican Association of Gastroenterology. He is Associate International Editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology, of Hépato-Gastro (France) and collaborates with other journals in Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
