In the long-term management of gastroesophageal reflux disease, surgery offers certain advantages. Defects in the anti reflux mechanism are repaired. Reflux, whether acidic or nonacidic, is well controlled. The intragastric milieu is maintained and surgery may prove more cost effective in the long term. |
