What has happened to reflux disease over the past several years? The spectrum of reflux has become more broadq and continues to expand. Barrett's, an important issue, remains unresolved.

Transient relaxations have emerged as the most important cause of reflux in health and disease. The hiatus hernia has re-emerged and its role in pathophysiology of reflux has been clarified. New technologies have also revealed the complexity of the reflux age which has become much more interesting.
