Proton pump inhibitors: are they all the same?

In conclusion, proton pump inhibitors are effective for the treatment of all acid related disorders. Individual PPIs differ with respect to metabolism, pharmacokinetics profile, and onset of action. While these differences may have only marginal effects on the efficacy of maintenance therapy, they may be very relevant for the efficacy of on demand therapy.
