Our raison d'être |
|
Dear Colleague, While face-to-face, hands-on apprenticeship is indispensable, we physicians must now realize that much of the future of medical learning is the Internet. Gastro-Pro's vision and potential are global. Its raison d'être is to help you to improve your professional performance, care for your patients and satisfy your country's healthcare objectives. My colleagues know me for a straight-thinking man. And we all know that our profession has multiple, even overwhelming needs. We cannot meet them all at once, and we will not even meet them all. But we are ambitious: The Gastro-Pro team will build systematically and incrementally towards its objective, which is to become a reference for excellence in gastroenterology and GI-surgery learning on the Internet. To span the immense range of user needs, we are combining the fundamental with the leading edge, basic education with the world's best teachers. And what, specifically, will be our content? Setting priorities means clearly understanding what our users want. You can tell us what you want, right here. The Web has always promised to accelerate transactions, to match supply seamlessly with demand. This is now happening: New global communities are taking shape online, pooling and sharing resources in ways unimaginable before. Gastro-Pro offers you such a community: A place to share what you know, ask what you don't and learn from your peers in almost all the countries of the world. Here is where we will do our learning together. Some of the world's finest practitioners, international medical societies and multinational companies are rallied under the Gastro-Pro banner. We are proud of this alliance and place it at your service. Join us: You are safe and welcome here. Prof. Robert Giuli MD, FACS, FCCP
